How to choose the right company to work for

First and foremost, it is not entirely upto you whether you get to work in a company that you love. They would have to choose you in the first place. However, that does not mean you jump at the first offer that comes your way.

You could end up working in a company whose ideals and values are completely opposite to your personality traits. And then, you won’t stop ruing your decision. In order to avoid that stressful situation, here are a few recruitment4u tips that will help you choose the right company to work for:

Take care of the products or services that a company is selling

It gets very difficult to sell something that you won’t buy yourself. Even if your job responsibility is very different from selling, you still won’t enjoy working in an environment where you just don’t like the products or services on offer. That’s why, it is important to find a company whose products and services you respect.

Pay attention to the work culture

Some organizations have a relaxed work culture. You are allowed to wear casuals to work, there are weekend parties, and more. Other organizations are pretty rigid in their work culture. They adopt a more professional approach to work. Different people like different kinds of working environment. For some, late night partying is a complete no-no, while others revel in such an atmosphere. When you go for an interview in a company, do ask about the work culture of the company. Take as much detail as possible. It will allow you to make a better decision.

Investigate about growth opportunities

Even if the work culture is good, and you like the environment, you will get bored of it all if there is no growth. It is not only about the financial growth. It is about growth in job profile and responsibilities too. Ask ex-employees as well as present employees of a company about the prevalent growth opportunities in an organization. If there aren’t too many growth opportunities, you will be better off turning down the offer.

The size of the company

Size of a company matters too. Generally, in small organizations, you can approach the management directly, and there are opportunities for diversification of job profile. In larger organizations, there is often some red tape involved and there is a more formal environment. Different environments appeal to different people. Some people like to work in start-ups or small organizations as the learning opportunities are better in such organizations. Others prefer to work in MNCs as the pay package is better, among other factors. Do take the size factor into account before you agree to the job offer.

Working hours

You do not want a company whose working hours are completely opposite to the general times when you like to work. While most people prefer a day time schedule, there are others who are more comfortable working at night. Take the working hours too into account while analyzing a job offer.
